    Minister of Finance discusses the ways of developing the administrative reality in public sector, with a delegation from Saed Faculty for Business Administration in Oxford
    On Wednesday 29 April 2009 Dr. Muhammad Al-Hussein, Minister of Finance, met a delegation from Saed Faculty for Business Administration in Oxford including Mrs. Catherine Rou, representative of Mr. Wafeek Saed / consular in Secretary Board, and Mr. Androe White from Saed Charitable Institution. 
       
     
    Signing a loan agreement with the OPEC Fund for International Development in amount of 30$ million for financing the project of Al-Rakah – Dir El-Zour – Al Hasaqeh Road
    On Tuesday 28/4/2009, a loan agreement has been signed at the Ministry of Finance with the OPEC Fund for International Development in amount of 30$ million for financing the project of Al-Rakah, Dir El-Zour, Al Hasaqeh Road… Dr. Muhammad Al-Hussein, Minister of Finance, signed on behalf of the SyrianArabRepublic and Dr. Suliman Jaber Al-Harbesh, General Director of the OPEC Fund, signed on behalf of the OPEC Fund.     Dr. Al-Hussein expressed his wish of increasing the trade exchange with Slovakia especially that the legal framework was prepared. From his side, the Slovakian Minister expressed his wish of returning the historical relations with Syria, he said: we launched with the agreements of Investment promotion and avoiding the double taxation here in Syria, because we believe that we should start from it.     European Investment Bank affords € 2 million grant to Syrian for financing the infinitesimal projects.
    On 19 January, 2009 Dr. Muhammad Al-Hussein, Minister of Finance, Mr. Philippe de Fontaine Vive, the Vice-President of EIB, and Mr. Vassilis Bontosoglou, Ambassador of the European Commission, has met in Damascus.     The President of Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Bashar Al-Assad, issued the legislative decrees No./62/ and /63/ for the year 2008 that includes certifying the agreement minute that concerns exempting the diplomatic mission in Syria and Romania from the payment of the Valued Added Tax, as well as certifying the Agreement of Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Romania.     Minister of Finance presents an explanation on new exit fee, and a reminder of its valid starting from 1July,2008.
    Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein answered the press inquiries about Minister of Finance decision which was supposed to be increasing the exit fee on the Syrian .To be more clear ,he explained  the decision that it didn't mean increasing while including the non-Syrian travelers with the exit fee ,and he mentioned the details of how to  execute legislative decree No.31 for year 2008 prepared by both ministry of Finance and ministry of Transport which includes defining the exit fee on the Syrian and non-Syrian . click more…
       
     
    On Tuesday 24 June, 2008, in the Ministry of Finance with the presence of Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, Minister of Finance and head of Syrian side in the Syrian –Romanian joint committee, Dr. Amer Lutfi, Minister of Economy, and Dr. Varujan Vosganian, Romanian Minister of Economy and Finance and head of Romanian side in the joint committee, three agreements has been signed with Romania including the Agreement of encouraging and protecting investment, the Agreement of avoiding the double taxation and the Agreement of exempting the diplomatic missions in both countries from the Value Added Tax (VAT).     Ministry of Finance holds a definitional workshop on the new financial and accounting systems
    Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, minister of finance, opened on Saturday 26 January,2008 in the Ministry of Finance, a definitional workshop concerns of the new financial and accounting systems which includes regulating the financial and accounting affairs of public bodies of administrative nature, local administrative units and endowment directorates. The Minister pointed out that these decrees, which include new accounting standards, are for the first time in Syrian Accounting System.     Public Customs Administration generalized to its departments the approval of economic committee that includes adopting the agreed basics with a fuel company in order to provide passing tracks to Syria with the global price of gas oil… whereas the Customs Houses in Yaroubia, Tannf and al-Boukamal will be informed at the beginning of each month with the global price of gas oil that defined by the fuel companies, which was for this month about 40 SP.
